tootles underwear was developed to solve problems that so many of us face on a continuous basis, which is smelly gas. We've all been there, and sometimes the smelly gas comes out at the most inconvenient times; such as in bed (the infamous dutch oven), at a social event, in an elevator, or so many other places.
tootles uses a special activated charcoal liner that is embedded into the fabric of the underwear to drastically filter out foul smelling flatus. Typically activated charcoal is used in large wastewater treatment centers, but we were able to apply this technology into a knit fabric.
So how does the activated charcoal filter out smelly gas? With tootles technology, the gas (flatus) passes through a complex structure of charcoal pores where the hydrogen sulfide (the smelly part of our flatus) goes through a process called "adsorption". Essentially, these smelly gas particles get trapped so that rotten egg smell goes away!
