How to Avoid Bloating: 4 Pro Tips to Give You the Comfort and Confidence You Deserve

Bloating is a natural part of the digestion process. However, it can often happen at inconvenient times.

We’ve all been there. You bought the perfect outfit for a date or a new swimsuit for your vacation, but it’s just not fitting the way you had hoped. Although bloating is natural, this can be a frustrating experience nonetheless.

It’s important to remember that we are all human, but keeping this in mind there are still ways you can reduce the bloat you may be experiencing.

That is why we have put together this list of tips and tricks to help you reduce your bloat and feel confident for the big occasions in your life.

Tip #1 Be Mindful of Food Intolerance

This first tip may sound obvious but is vitally important to reducing bloating and gas pain. Some of us have certain food sensitivities that can cause painful bloating or even embarrassing gas.

For most, laying off lactose and dairy can help with studies showing that some researchers estimate that as many as 48% of Americans are lactose intolerant. Cutting out dairy products, especially if you have a lactose sensitivity, should help reduce some bloating and gas pain.

However, if it isn’t lactose, you may have other food sensitivities. In this case, nutritionists and dietitians recommend keeping a food diary to keep track of what you eat, as well as which foods cause discomfort. This can be a helpful tool to find what causes bloating and gas in your diet.

Tip #2 Reduce Your Salt Intake

Sodium or salt in our diet helps our body retain water and stay hydrated. Therefore it is not recommended to cut it out of your diet entirely. However, if you find that you have an excess of extremely salty foods in your diet, it may be beneficial to scale back your salt intake.

As we said previously, salt causes the body to retain water which can cause slight bloating, therefore decreasing your sodium intake will naturally decrease the amount of water your body retains.

This tip can help when salt is consumed in excess, however, it is important to remember that staying hydrated is super important.

Tip #3 Drink Water or Tea

As we mentioned at the end of our last tip, drinking water and staying hydrated is incredibly important to staying healthy and confident as a whole. Therefore, our next tip is that we advise drinking as much water as you can as well as avoiding carbonated or alcoholic drinks

Alcoholic beverages such as beer and wine can be high in sulfur which can cause excess gas, as well as even extra smelly gas! To avoid bloating and gas it is always wise to limit sulfur-rich foods and beverages as much as possible. Likewise, carbonated drinks and soda can also cause excess gas and bloating.

Staying hydrated and drinking water is a great way to keep you feeling your best. But if you want to mix things up a bit, We recommend drinking mint or herbal teas containing plants such as chamomile. These herbal teas can actually help reduce bloating and keep you feeling refreshed.

Tip #4 Take Probiotics

One way to seriously reduce bloating and gas pain are by getting serious about your gut health. Whether through supplements, special foods, or delicious drinks like kombucha; taking probiotics is important to have a healthy gut and less bloating.

Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for you, especially your digestive system. We usually associate bacteria with germs, however, these probiotics are good bacteria that help you stay healthy

You’re human after all – it’s important to remember that bloating is natural and happens to everyone. However, if you use these four pro tips you’ll be able to reduce excess bloating in no time (well maybe a few days)!
